PREDICTIVE

ANALYTICS

How data can be used to recognize issues, solve problems, and support effective decision-making.

Research illustrates that pandemics can impact Black, Indigenous, Latinx, and other people of color the most. Analysis of existing data can demonstrate that these problems exist. Predictive analytics can turn that data into actionable information that allows decision-makers to mitigate or solve these problems. However, the analysis is only as good as the data itself. Without reliable collection and availability of complete and accurate data sets, the analysis may be ineffective at best, or dangerous at worst.

For example, the graphic below uses data to show that minority neighborhoods have a greater incidence of high-risk health conditions above those of white neighborhoods. This information can be used by public health officials to determine where to place mobile testing sites and medical centers during a pandemic.
